Installation
Install from the Chrome Web Store
- Visit the Snapmarks listing on the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Add to Chrome and accept the permissions prompt.
- Open a new tab — your bookmarks will appear automatically.
Snapmarks requires the bookmarks and tabs permissions to read your existing Chrome bookmarks and detect the current tab when saving.
First open
On first install, Snapmarks reads your entire Chrome bookmark tree and imports it into a local IndexedDB database. This happens in the background and takes a few seconds depending on how many bookmarks you have.
Your Chrome bookmark folders become categories — the colored chips at the top of the grid. Bookmarks inside each folder appear as cards in the grid when that category is selected.
Staying in sync
Snapmarks listens for Chrome bookmark events in real time. If you add, move, rename, or delete a bookmark via Chrome’s built-in bookmark manager, the grid updates automatically — no manual sync needed.
Adding bookmarks manually
Use the quick-save popup (click the Snapmarks icon in your toolbar) to save the current tab. It pre-selects the category you were last viewing and warns you if the URL is already saved.
You can also right-click anywhere on the new tab page and choose Add bookmark, or click the + card at the end of the grid.
